Dr. Syed Mujtaba Ali (1904-1974) was a Bengali author, academician, scholar and linguist. Syed Mujtaba Ali was born in Karimganj district (in present-day Assam, India). In 1919, he was inspired by Rabindranath Tagore and started writing to the poet. In 1921, Mujtaba joined the Indian freedom struggle and left his school in Sylhet.
